Youand Pedro learn the old songs and dances from your grandparents. They enjoyteaching you these traditions, and you invite them to join in the culturalprogram.
Tourists see a dance which commemorates a treaty between theQuichua and their old enemies, the Huaorani. They also hear several songsperformed by a five-person band playing violin, guitar, and turtle shell.
Tourist groups are arriving several times a month now. Pedroand Fernando are satisfied with this level of tourism. They appreciate theincome from tourism, but they are still more comfortable working in thefield than dealing with tourists. Agustín, however, would like toimprove the tourist facilities. More comfortable accommodations would attractmore tourists, particularly tourists willing to pay higher rates for theirstay.
